The Ministry of Health has submitted to the Conferenza Unificata the new National Action Plan for Mental Health 2025-2030, drafted by the technical working group established in 2023. The new plan substantially integrates and revises the previous 2013 Plan.

The first critical responses to the new National Action Plan for Mental Health and to the current state of the Italian Mental Health System have come from service user and family associations, professional associations, and voices from civil society.

Working in a community mental health service means, for practitioners, continuously engaging with the issue of the context in which mental suffering is expressed.

What can psychoanalysis make of all this?

Psychoanalysis should take care of this: that is, it should deal with what happens within institutions and, rather than focusing on marginalized areas, contribute to revitalizing the territories’ capacity for reintegration and social bonds.
